This residence in Jodhpur reflects a thoughtful balance between tradition and modern living. Inspired by the city’s rich architectural character, the home uses material, light, and space in a way that feels both familiar and contemporary. It is designed as a comfortable, well-connected environment where everyday living is enhanced by simplicity, warmth, and a strong sense of place.
Set against the backdrop of Jodhpur’s architectural legacy, this house reflects a harmonious blend of regional sensibilities and contemporary design ethos. The home is constructed using locally sourced Jodhpur sandstone, a material that celebrates the desert city’s craft heritage while ensuring natural thermal comfort and timeless elegance.
Situated in a corner plot, the three-storey residence exemplifies spatial efficiency and understated luxury. The ground floor accommodates the drawing room, dining area, master bedroom, and kitchen — thoughtfully connected to encourage family interaction while maintaining privacy. The first floor features a striking duplex layout, where the son’s bedroom rises to a height of nearly 16 feet, opening into a dramatic double-height volume that floods the interiors with natural light.
The design language embraces modern minimalism with a warm palette. The interiors flow through a symphony of olive green, turquoise blue, and warm white, accented by subtle orange tones that enliven the spaces. The duplex lobby wall makes a sculptural statement, featuring copper panels detailed with CNC-cut geometric and floral motifs on PU-finished MDF, which introduces both artistry and texture to the vertical surface.
Every material within the home speaks of refinement — from the Italian marble flooring that runs seamlessly across spaces to the white-finished doors and windows that amplify light and volume. The overall aesthetic strikes a delicate balance between contemporary sophistication and classic restraint, crafting an atmosphere of serene opulence.
Spanning 3,000 to 3,500 sq ft, the home caters to a family of six, designed to optimise comfort without compromising on openness. Being a corner plot, the architecture cleverly harnesses natural light and ventilation, incorporating a double-height outdoor seating zone that blurs the line between indoors and outdoors. This gesture not only enhances spatial depth but also reinforces the central design philosophy — that of openness, connection, and light.
